After a meeting last night with OneVision founder, John Miller, our group found out some more details and plans for the trip to Haiti as well as specifics about the mission of OneVision in Haiti.

OneVision's mission for Haiti

In January 2009, One Vision discovered 124 orphans in Cabaret, Haiti living in an abandoned night club. They are now working to sponsor each child to provide food, water, medicine and other basic needs. This past August, One Vision finalized the purchase of 40 acres of land in Cabaret where the first One Vision permanent facilities will be built. The area will consist of an orphanage, a clinic, a church, and a team house. As well as a school and an agricultural project that will serve the entire community of 5,000.

John has made trips every 2 weeks to Haiti and was able to give us a pretty vivid mental picture of the importance our trip will play in fulfilling their vision. Over the past year under the care of OneVision, the health and nutrition of the kids has came a long way. Their young lives, however, are scarred from some very traumatizing events.

Trip Itinerary

While we are there, our main focus will be loving the kids and people of the community surrounding the OneVision property. We will be taking over a lot of supplies in our luggage and doing some food distributions to those in the city. They also hope to have broken ground on some of the permanent facilities so we can help in construction as well.

Friday, May 28: depart Knoxville, arrive in Port-au-Prince in the afternoon. Go to hotel and eat dinner. Go to bed early.

Saturday, May 29: work with kids in orphanage in Arcahaie for the day; take the kids to the beach; do food projects for the day; build relationships with the children and people in the village.

Sunday, May 30: attend Haitian church service for the morning and afternoon; work with the orphanage in the afternoon and evening

Monday, Thursday (5/31-6/2): work with kids in orphanage in Arcahaie for the day; take the kids to the beach; do food projects for the day; build relationships with the children and people in the village; light construction on the exterior/interior of orphanage; share Christ with the villagers, etc.

Friday, June 3: head to Port-au-Prince early; view destruction in the area for morning; then head to airport to depart for Knoxville.

I know that until I get there, I won't be able to imagine the devastation and conditions there. I am just praying that God will continue to fill me up so that I may overflow in pouring out His love and words while I am there.
